Summary[]

Yoriichi performing the Thirteenth Form of the Sun Breathing

Yoriichi performs his Sun Breathing at Suyako's request.

As he saw Sumiyoshi's memories, Tanjiro acknowledged that, as well as receiving the explanation hundreds of times, his understanding changed seeing how true Sun Breathing was performed. Though he was dreaming, he noticed his own wasteful movements, variations in wrist angle, the correct footwork, and proper breathing between forms. A quiet and simple person, Yoriichi was kind enough to show Suyako his Sun Breathing forms when she asked. As the Demon Slayer demonstrated his Breathing Style to entertain Suyako, Sumiyoshi watched intently, burning them into his memory to remember every single move.

Yoriichi perform his Sun Breathing with such breathtaking elegance, Tanjiro understood why the forms were passed down as a ceremonial kagura; Yoriichi moved like he was a spirit more than a human. Afterwards, Suyako and her children were overjoyed, while Yoriichi hung his head, almost in embarrassment. When Sumiyoshi asked him to come back someday, Yoriichi instead took off his earrings and gave them to him. Realizing that he was leaving them for the last time, Sumiyoshi began to cry as Yoriichi began to walk away dejectedly.

Yoriichi's true smile

"Thank you"

"Yoriichi! You saved our lives, so we will carry on your legacy!" Sumiyoshi called out to the Demon Slayer and told him that his life was not worthless, and he pleaded with him to never think that he had accomplished nothing. As Tanjiro's visage overlaps with Sumiyoshi's, he promises to pass down his earrings and Sun Breathing to future generations. Yoriichi stopped and turned back to the Kamados, a bright smile parting his face as he thanked them.

Tanjiro believes that he is indebted to Yoriichi, thanking him for protecting his ancestors, which eventually led to him. He had also believed in Tamayo enough to let her escape, and in the present, Tamayo has helped the Corps in cornering Muzan. Tanjiro can now fight with the Sun Breathing he demonstrated, noting that the twelve forms have been passed down in great detail despite the passing of centuries. The forms in proper order are Dance, Clear Blue Sky, Raging Sun, Fake Rainbow, Fire Wheel, Burning Bones, Summer Sun, Sunflower Thrust, Solar Heat Haze, Setting Sun Transformation, Beneficent Radiance, Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance, and Flame Dance

Tanjiro and Muzan exchanging blows

Tanjiro Kamado battles Muzan Kibutsuji.

Thinking about the thirteenth form that the Sengoku Flame Hashira had mentioned, he noticed that the first and last forms are both named "Dance", and his father had once told him that learning to breathe properly can allow him to dance forever. Tanjuro himself could perform the Hinokami Kagura until dawn. Furthermore, when he noticed Muzan's twelve weak spots, he realized that using all twelve forms in order would likely form the thirteenth. Using all as he weaves through Muzan's attacks will allow him to strike each of his hearts and brains, and the twelve forms when performed together create a cycle.

Tanjiro knows that he faces a hellish task, especially without Yoriichi's or even his father's skill. He is uncertain if he can survive, and he doesn't know how to stop Muzan from splitting apart to escape. He understands why even the Sengoku Flame Hashira would lose confidence, attempting to stop Muzan when Yoriichi couldn't. Nevertheless, he vows to do everything he can, to keep his heart burning, to not lose, and to not break.

Tanjiro uses the Sun Breathing against Muzan

Tanjiro uses Sun Breathing and connects Dance, Raging Sun, and Fire Wheel.

The Demon King and the Demon Slayer meet in a head-on clash, with Tanjiro's visage as he fights beginning to remind Muzan of Yoriichi; he remarks that it's as if he is seeing a ghost. The demon unleashes the same devastating attack as before; it injures Tanjiro, but he is able to see why he managed to overwhelm everyone. Muzan has nine whips on his back, his two transformed arms, and could project eight more whips from his thighs that can move even quicker. He understands that Muzan is an ever-changing being, and fighting like he has a fixed form will mean being struck unexpectedly.

Using Yoriichi's true Sun Breathing, Tanjiro performs the moves Dance, Raging Sun, and Fire Wheel, and successfully connects them while avoiding getting struck by Muzan. He commits himself to connecting all of the style's forms in a single move, as Yoriichi had intended and designed.
