Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 (鬼 (き) 滅 (めつ) の (の) 刃 (やいば) : ヒノカミ血 (けっ) 風 (ぷう) 譚 (たん) 2 Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami Keppūtan 2?) is a fighting action-adventure video game co-developed by CyberConnect2 Co., Ltd and Arc System Works, and a sequel to the first game released in 2021. Based on the 2019 anime adaptation of Koyoharu Gotoge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series, it is the third Demon Slayer game to be released. The game will be released by Aniplex in Japan and globally by Sega for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Steam and for the Nintendo Switch on August 5, 2025.

Gameplay[]

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is a third-person action arena fighting game with two modes: Solo Play Mode and Versus Mode. Solo Play Mode's plot is based on the second, third and fourth seasons of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series, in which Tanjiro Kamado joins the Demon Slayer Corps after his family is brutally murdered by a demon, save for his sister Nezuko. The story features some exploration elements, and is told through various cutscenes and boss battles with demons seen in the anime series. Versus Mode allows players to form teams of two fighters from 40 different characters and battle CPU opponents or other people. The game supports both local and online multiplayer.

In addition, a character pass DLC for the first installment of the Infinity Castle trilogy is in production.

Trivia[]

  • Genya, Tengen's wives, and Yoriichi Type 0 are the only playable characters to use neither Breathing Styles nor a Blood Demon Art.
  • Just like the first game, if the character the player fights is the same one as the player is currently using, the duplicate character will have a slightly different color scheme. Most characters will have a more beige color scheme, whilst many of the new single player characters and the Academy variants will have their uniform a different but more vibrant color.
  • Giyu and Shinobu's models have been updated to their Season 4 designs, evident by their slightly different hairstyles and larger eyes. They are the only playable characters to be reanimated with an updated model. However, their Academy variants still utilize their Season 1 designs.
  • If the player selects Muichiro and the Swordsmith Village variant of Tanjiro together, Muichiro's model will include a white shine on his eyes, referencing their friendship.
  • In public advertisements, Mitsuri's render is censored to obscure her cleavage with her braids.
  • Tanjiro's Entertainment District Arc variant is the only Tanjiro variant incapable of chasing costumes.
  • Just like the first game, the Kimetsu Academy versions of Giyu and Zenitsu are the only characters who have different Ultimate Art animations depending on the gender of the opponent (sans Susamaru and Daki who receive the ultimates usually reserved for male characters).
  • The game allows for the player to customize the system voices where a playable character of their choice announces the PVP matches, with the default being Sakonji.
    • The only characters without a system voice are Susamaru, Yahaba, Rui, and Enmu, for unknown reasons. However, it's worth noting that Rui's English voice actor passed away and only uses archived recordings.
  • Muzan, and the Academy versions of Zenitsu, Kyojuro, and Tengen are the only Ultimate Arts to have multiple different dialogues depending on the character.
  • Muzan has several easter eggs with his slot.
    • Should his Ultimate Art be directed at a demon loyal to him (or a doppelgänger of himself), it will briefly show the demon's reaction to being stunned by him.
    • If Tanjiro is the target, Muzan's will have exclusive voice lines cursing the Demon Slayer.
    • If Muzan or any variant of Tanjiro defeat each other, an exclusive victory screen will play.
