The Eternal Paradise Faith ( (ばん) (せい) (ごく) (らく) (きょう) Bansei Gokuraku Kyō?) was a centuries-old cult dedicated to worshipping Upper Rank Two Doma.

Description[]

The Eternal Paradise Faith was formed by Doma's parents as a way for their child to give guidance to its followers from "supposedly" hearing the voices of gods. Later on after becoming a demon, it became a way for Doma to amass followers in order to kill and eat them. He did this not only to satiate his own demon biology, but also because as an atheist who believed the gods and the afterlife to be a foolish fantasies, Doma believed that consuming his followers allowed them to be "saved" and live on with him forever.

The cult was located in a shrine with several lotus iconography, with Doma being surrounded by a bed of lotuses. However, Doma is also shown to have his own palace surrounded by a large water garden with endless pathways inside the Infinity Castle. Given that Doma's is shown dining on several female disciples on the pathways, it is possible that the location inside the secret demon fortress is where Doma's followers meet their demise. In addition, Doma was known to collect the decomposed heads of his victims, using a pot gifted to him by Upper Rank Five Gyokko to display one.

Since Doma is the self-proclaimed founder and the cult was started around him in the first place, Doma is the main figure of worship. After his transformation however, as a show of loyalty to the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji was made another figure of worship, this time as a deity to revered.[1] Moreover, the cult's membership was limited to a total of 250 members, as Doma would get scolded for standing out to much.[2]

Doma was born with rainbow eyes and oak-colored hair, and because of his rare features his parents believed him to be a special child that could hear the voices of gods. Consequently, they started the Eternal Paradise Faith and deified their son while attracting followers who cried about their personal life problems and begged for guidance into paradise. For his part, Doma never heard the voices of any gods and became disillusioned with the idea of religion all together due to recognizing the absurdity of adults begging a child for spiritual guidance. Nevertheless, out of pity for those he viewed as stupid, he played along with his role.

Doma would continue acting as a prophet even after his parents died in a murder-suicide; his lustful father being murdered by Doma's mother after finding out he had been philandering with female disciples, before poisoning herself. When Doma was 20 years old, he encountered Muzan Kibutsuji and was transformed into a demon, although the circumstances for the transformation are unknown. Afterwards, Doma, still believing that he had a duty to make his followers happy, would develop a new method to do so. He would begin to eat his followers, not only consuming the blood that his kind required, but also in his mind ending their suffering and fears by having them live inside him and achieve true eternity. Doma was known to do this inside his own palace inside the Infinity Castle.

Kotoha Hashibira's arrival to the cult.

Fifteen years before his showdown in the aforementioned Infinity Castle, a battered and abused woman named Kotoha Hashibira came to the cult carrying her infant child. The cult gave them both sanctuary and when Kotoha's abusive husband and mother-in-law came searching for them inside the cult, Doma became irritated by their "noisiness" and murdered them both. The demon then abandoned their corpses in the mountains without bothering to eat them, thus barring the two from "entering paradise". Doma was charmed by Kotoha's beauty and singing, and planned to keep her around until her death of natural causes. However, when Kotoha discovered Doma's habit of eating his followers, she ran away in horror, sacrificing herself so Inosuke could live in the wild. Doma would go on to kill and eat Kotoha, believing it to be a mercy killing.

While in the practice of consuming several female followers inside the Infinity Castle, Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho witnesses Doma's cult activities and recognizes him as the demon that killed her sister Kanae Kocho. After executing a follower who the Hashira attempted to save, Doma explained his philosophy and the cult's intentions, which Shinobu responded to with revilement. A battle ensues between the two results in Shinobu being killed and absorbed by the Upper Rank. Her Tsuguko and adoptive younger sister Kanao Tsuyuri witnesses this and begins to engage Doma in battle as well, before being joined by Inosuke Hashibira. After removing his boar mask, Doma recognizes him as Kotoha's infant and reveals her past with the cult. Enraged by the murder of their mother and sisters respectively, Inosuke and Kanao continue to fight Doma until the Upper Rank is poisoned by the wisteria Shinobu had consumed, allowing the two Demon Slayers to behead and kill him.

With the death of the founder and patron, as well as the following death of its deity, it is likely that the cult collapsed afterwards.
