Shigeru Kamado (
Appearance[]
Shigeru was young boy with light complexion and dark red eyes with white pupils, just like the rest of his family. His black hair was worn as a buzz cut.
Shigeru wore a light green and black patterned kimono with a light green haori over it and a white nagajuban under everything.
Personality[]
Shigeru appears to be very fond of his brother, Tanjiro Kamado, wanting to follow him wherever he goes and do whatever he does. Like his siblings, he is upset when Tanjiro and his mother tells him he cannot go to town with him.
History[]
Shigeru grew up on a mountain alongside his siblings and mother. He is the second youngest son of the Kamado family.
Synopsis[]
Final Selection Arc[]
Shigeru and Hanako with Tanjiro.
Shigeru and his sister, Hanako, want to follow Tanjiro into the city to sell charcoal with him. However, their mother stops them and says they would only slow Tanjiro down. While Tanjiro is in the town, the family was attacked and killed, leaving Nezuko the sole survivor but transformed into a demon.[1]
After Tanjiro gets knocked unconscious by Giyu Tomioka, Shigeru and his deceased siblings, along with their mother, are seen looking over Tanjiro with worried expressions.
When Tanjiro is attacked by the Hand Demon and falls unconscious during Final Selection, Shigeru appears in Tanjiro's thoughts to help him regain consciousness and avoid being killed.[2]
Mugen Train Arc[]
Tanjiro leaves his family after accepting their deaths.
During a mission aboard the Mugen Train, Tanjiro falls victim to the dream-based Blood Demon Art of Enmu, the Lower Rank One. In his dream, he is reunited with his deceased family, with Shigeru and Hanako greeting him as he comes home. Tanjiro bursts to tears and apologizes to them, much to their worry. After Tanjiro realizes he is inside the Blood Demon Art and must wake up, he makes the difficult decision to leave his family behind and continue forward. Shigeru joins his family in confronting him but Tanjiro moves on and leaves his family to wake up and battle the demon.
Later, Enmu attempts to demoralize Tanjiro with a nightmare of his deceased family berating him for being the only survivor of their family, but this fails when Tanjiro grows enraged at his memories being manipulated.
Entertainment District Arc[]
Nezuko remembers Shigeru's death during Daki's attempt on Tanjiro's life.
During the battle against Upper Rank Six Daki, Nezuko saves Tanjiro when he collapses from exhaustion and is left at the demon's mercy. Kicking the Upper Rank in the head, Nezuko becomes enraged at the attempt on her brother's life, reminiscing on her family's murder as she prepares to fight.
Sunrise Countdown Arc[]
After being administered a human-conversion drug, Nezuko envisions the day of her family's massacre, when Muzan arrived and attempted to transform them all into demons to produce one resistant to sunlight. Believing he had failed, Muzan left unaware that Nezuko was alive and transformed.
Abilities[]
As an ordinary human, Shigeru did not possess any additional powers or abilities.
Trivia[]
- Shigeru's surname contains both Kunyomi readings for "a traditional Japanese wood or charcoal-fuelled cookstove/furnace" (竈 kama?) while the second kanji means "door" (門 do?). His given name is the Kunyomi reading for "overgrown, lush" (茂 shigeru).
