Most of his features are blocked by the head covering and the mask all members of the Kakushi adorn, but it is shown he possesses wide, half-moon shaped eyes with brown irises and no pupils. His short hair peeking out from the sides of his head covering are black in color.

Personality[]
Goto's primary personality trait is his sardonic attitude. He has a habit of dryly commenting on the eccentricities of members in the Demon Slayer Corps, whether it be an inward comment in his head, or a blunt and sarcastic statement. Targets of his scorn include the loud, energetic, and aggressive personalties of Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, and Hotaru Haganezuka and superhuman abilties such as Tanjiro and Mitsuri Kanroji's appetite, and the short time in which the former was able to recover from his injuries.
Despite his usually calm personality for his line of work, Goto can have a fiery temper. He angrily yelled at Tanjiro for interrupting the meeting of the Hashira just to get back at one of them, demanding repeatedly for an apology. He also chastised Kanao for not informing anyone that Tanjiro had awakened from his coma, in spite of the respect that he usually has for her.
Goto possesses deep respect for Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu because of their capability and bravery. In spite of his sarcasm, he still shows a caring personality for most of his appearances. He is shown to be thoughtful when he delivers castella to Tanjiro after he is comatose from his battle in Yoshiwara, and makes small talk with him after his battle in the Swordsmith Village, even inquiring on the well being of his sister.
Despite his usual support roles and cowardly behavior in the presence of the Hashira, Goto has shown to be brave when it matters as during the final battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Goto drove an automobile to prevent a giant infant-like Muzan from fleeing from the sunlight.
History[]
At one point in his life, he was found worthy of being a Demon Slayer, but for unknown reasons, he decided to become one of the Kakushi. He was present in the aftermath of the battle between Sanemi Shinazugawa and Masachika Kumeno against Lower Rank 1 Ubume. When Sanemi angrily refused the Kakushi to aid him, Goto respected his wishes and successfully got his colleges to do the same.
Synopsis[]
Rehabilitation Training Arc[]
Goto ordering Tanjiro to wake up.
Goto is the Kakushi who brought Tanjiro before the Hashira to be trialed for carrying a demon, Nezuko Kamado, against the Corps' rules. Due to the Hashira's fearsome reputation and the respect they demand, Goto demands the unconscious Demon Slayer to wake up as he is lying before them. Throughout the trial, Goto stands aside until the verdict is given by Kagaya Ubuyashiki. After Shinobu Kocho orders Tanjiro and Nezuko to be taken to the Butterfly Mansion, Goto and another Kakushi enter the scene, bow before the Hashira and Kagaya, and then proceeds to hoist Tanjiro on his back and sprint away, though he chases him back when Tanjiro attempts to head-butt Sanemi Shinazugawa for stabbing Nezuko.
Goto sees Aoi Kanzaki scolding Zenitsu.
Goto, fearful of having the Hashira's meeting interrupted, yells at Tanjiro to apologize for putting him in an uncomfortable situation. As they enter the mansion, the group sees Kanao Tsuyuri. When Tanjiro insists that she seems familiar to him, Goto tells him she is the Tsuguko of Shinobu Kocho and was in fact the one to knock him unconscious. Entering the mansion on the directions of Aoi Kanzaki, Tanjiro directs Goto to his friend Zenitsu, who is ecstatic to be reunited with his comrade, though Goto is less than pleased when Zenitsu pushes his runny nose into his uniform. After Tanjiro is given a bed, Goto leaves the hospital.
Swordsmith Village Arc[]
Following the destructive battle between the Demon Slayers and the dual holders of Upper Rank Six, Goto is assigned to help with cleaning up the battlefield, shocked at the extent of the city's damage. Amidst the piles of rubble, he discovers Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko all huddled together and unconscious. Months afterward, Goto decides to bring some castella to the comatose Tanjiro's room, hoping that when he wakes up, he can smell the dessert and eat. During his walk, he remembers first meeting Tanjiro when he was put on trial by the Hashira, and claims to have respect for him, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, although he is rather confused by the latter. Entering his room, he notices Kanao has dropped a vase and is standing beside Tanjiro's bed, leading him to mentally scold her for her carelessness despite her amazing abilities.
Goto sees Inosuke hanging by the ceiling panels.
Goto tells Kanao that he had brought some castella for Tanjiro for when he awakens, only for Tanjiro to thank him personally. The shock of his regaining consciousness angers Goto and he proceeds to yell at Kanao for not informing a single person that Tanjiro has woken up and berated her intelligence. He then calls out to Aoi, Sumi Nakahara, Kiyo Terauchi, and Naho Takada and informs them of the news. As the group expresses their relief to see him awake again, they are interrupted by the sudden appearance of Inosuke. who had recovered and scaled up the ceiling of Tanjiro's room. He later listens as Inosuke is compared to a honey badger, sarcastically commenting that the honey badger may be smarter, and then later calling the Boar child an idiot, resulting in Inosuke grabbing his mask and trying to instigate a fight.
Later, he is given a letter by Kiyo informing him of Tanjiro's recovery, much to his astonishment.
Hashira Training Arc[]
Goto sardonically claims that Tanjiro is becoming like the Hashira.
Just like previously, Goto vists a bed-ridden Tanjiro recovering from his injuries sustained from fighting an Upper Rank, this time being Upper Rank 4 Hantengu. Goto notes that the swordsmiths are working hard to move and restore the village and remarks that it was miraculous that the damage wasn't too severe. Goto adds that the Corps has previously made hidden villages to protect the swordsmiths in the aftermath of an attack, amazed by the foresight of Kagaya Ubuyashiki. He then wonders if Tanjiro is okay eating so quickly after his ordeal, but he mentions that Mitsuri has already started eating. When Goto asks if it is true that both the Love and Mist Hashira were asleep for two days before recovering on the third, Tanjiro confirms it. As he remarks that Tanjiro, quickly eating his food, seems to be becoming more like the Hashira, Goto asks about what happened to Nezuko. Tanjiro responds that she has gained immunity to sunlight, but it is unclear if she is turning back into a human or evolving as a demon. Goto, thinking that Shinobu is examining her, is corrected by Tanjiro, who says that it is in fact Tamayo who is examining Nezuko. When Goto asks Tanjiro who Tamayo is, he attempts to speak when he suddenly begins choking on his food, which the Kakushi chides him for. He adds that since Nezuko's immunity was revealed, the Corps has been on high alert. After providing Tanjiro with more food, Goto asks for the whereabouts of Nezuko, Sumi, Kiyo, Naho, and Aoi. Tanjiro replies that since no one is in need of medical attention, they've spent time playing with Nezuko, adding that they have been teaching her to speak again. The Kakushi remarks that all is at peace until the arrival of Zenitsu Agatsuma due to his notorious crush on Nezuko.
Goto meets Hotaru.
Goto questions where Inosuke is now, but Tanjiro, despite seeing him in the morning, is unsure. He mentions that Inosuke had been teaching Nezuko to say his name, which Tanjiro was unaware of before asking Goto for more dango, much to the Kakushi's chagrin. Hotaru then appears in the room, uncharacteristically quiet and panting heavily. The Demon Slayer welcomes him but grows concerned about his wellbeing, seeing that he is in visible pain. Hotaru gives him his new Nichirin katana, and Tanjiro is amazed to see Kyojuro Rengoku's tsuba installed on the blade, thanking him for saving Kotetsu as he begins to tear up. Offered a seat by Goto, Hotaru attempts to tell Tanjiro to see the blade, which he unsheathes to reveal its unique pattern.
Goto annoyed at Inosuke's antics.
When Hotaru begins to angrily rant about how Tanjiro used the sword before he finished honing it, causing him to start the painful process again, Goto interjects by noting that the Demon Slayer's injuries are worse than his. Hotaru threatens to kill him and demands that Tanjiro bring him mitarashi dango till his death. As Hotaru slowly walks out of the room Goto notes he had heard rumours of Hotaru, but it is quite different seeing him in person. Though Tanjiro adds that despite being in pain, Hotaru was actually calmer than usual. A voice next to them asks if they could be quieter; Genya, lying in bed nearby, is irritated by the commotion. Tanjiro apologizes for the noise when Inosuke suddenly bursts through the window of the hospital ward. As the masked Demon Slayer loudly exclaims in excitement, Goto warns him about Shinobu after smashing the window.
