Hinaki Ubuyashiki ( (うぶ) () (しき) ひなき Ubuyashiki Hinaki?) was a minor character in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She was the eldest daughter of Amane and Kagaya Ubuyashiki, serving as an aide to her father, the Oyakata of the Demon Slayer Corps, alongside the second oldest quintuplet, Nichika.

Appearance[]

Similar to the rest of her family, Hinaki had pale skin and large, purple eyes. She had white, shoulder-length hair styled into a blunt bob with bangs and sported a red ribbon on the right side of her head.

Hinaki was usually seen wearing a dark blue Hōmongi kimono decorated with purple flowers along with a maroon obi and a pink obiage and juban under everything, nearly identical to her twin sister with her sister Nichika.

Personality[]

Hinaki was usually very quiet, but kind. She loved her father very much and was loyal to him even to the point of dying alongside him. Kiriya describes his older sister as smarter and more skilled than him.

During her final moments, she showed no fear towards Muzan Kibutsuji intruding upon their home; she simply played and sung with her sister, accepting their demise.

History[]

Born to Kagaya and Amane Ubuyashiki, Hinaki was the eldest of the couple's quintuplets.[2]As such, she and the second oldest of the five, Nichika, often served as assistants to their parents together, following orders and being highly committed to their duties.

Amane surprised to see Muichiro alive

During one occasion, Hinaki, along with Nichika, accompanied her mother when they went to meet with a young boy thought to be a descendant of powerful past Demon Slayers. The boy, Muichiro Tokito, had just endured a demon attack that left his twin brother dead and himself on the verge of death as well. Hinaki checked on Yuichiro's body and sadly noted that his body had already begun rotting, but Muichiro was able to be saved and returned to the mansion to heal.[3]

Synopsis[]

Mount Natagumo Arc[]

Hinaki was seen sitting beside her father and Nichika as he gave orders to the Hashira Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho to head to Mount Natagumo, having received news of multiple Demon Slayer casualties.

Rehabilitation Training Arc[]

Hinaki reads Sakonji's letter out loud

Hinaki reading Sakonji Urokodaki's letter to the Hashira.

During Tanjiro Kamado's trial by the Hashira for harbouring a demon, Hinaki and Nichika joined their father as he presided over the meeting. When the Hashira disagreed with his sanction of the Kamado siblings, Hinaki read aloud a letter from Sakonji Urokodaki, urging Kagaya to pardon Nezuko Kamado as she demonstrated resistance to eating humans not seen in any demon.

Swordsmith Village Arc[]

During his battle against Upper Rank Five Gyokko, Muichiro Tokito recalled when he was rescued by Amane and her daughters after defeating a demon that killed his twin brother.[3]

Hashira Training Arc[]

Muzan observes Nichika and Hinaki playing

Hinaki and Nichika playing with a kamifusen.

During Muzan Kibutsuji's confrontation of the Demon Slayer Corps, Hinaki and Nichika served as decoys to lull the demon into a false sense of security. Playing with a kamifusen and singing to each other, they acted blissfully unaware of his presence, which, along with Muzan seeing that none of the Hashira were to be seen, caused him to think that no one but the Ubuyashiki family was present. The plan worked as Muzan remained unaware and was caught off-guard when Kagaya set off an explosive trap beneath the mansion, sacrificing himself and his family to stun Muzan for an attack by the coming Hashira.

Legacy[]

HInaki would be mourned by her youngest sister Kanata, who began to cry at the family she lost before being scolded by Kiriya to not stop mapping the Infinity Castle. Later on, when Muzan was on the brink of death and desperately trying to escape being burned by sunlight, her surviving sister prayed for her family's help.

Abilities[]

Like her siblings it can be assumed that Hinaki has an enhanced intellect.

Trivia[]

  • Hinaki shares her English voice actress, Kimberly Woods, with Naho Takada.
  • In Kimetsu Academy, Hinaki is described as 'clever', hinting that she was the most intelligent of the Ubuyashiki quintuplets.
