Following the events in the Swordsmith Village Arc, Inosuke Hashibira heads to Butterfly Mansion to get his injuries treated. While there, he successfully teaches Nezuko Kamado to say his name and unintentionally offended Kiyo Terauchi about her lost hair ornament. He gets scolded by Kanao Tsuyuri for it. When he discusses it with Tanjiro Kamado, he realizes the importance of the hair ornament in relation to Kiyo's connection with Kanae Kocho, and tries to find it for her. Afterwards, he and Kanao starts bonding. The chapter skips to Kanao and Inosuke supporting each other after their battle against Doma.[2]
Chapter 4: The Promise of Tomorrow (明日の約束 Ashita no yakusoku?)[]
A week after the battle at the Swordsmith Village, an emergency Hashira meeting is held. After the meeting, Gyomei Himejima talks with Muichiro Tokito about the consequences of the Demon Slayer Mark. During this conversation, Muichiro reminisces on his visit to the Swordsmith Village a few days ago, when he visited Tetsuido's grave and found Kotetsu repairing Yoriichi Type Zero. He helped the boy fix the battle doll. Mitsuri Kanroji supported them by bringing them food.[3]
Chapter 5: Kimetsu Academy Tales ~ Night Stroll (中 高 一 貫 ☆キメツ学 園 物 語 彡ツドナイト・パレIド Chūkōikan ☆ Kimetsu Gakuen Monokatari ~ Tsudonaito・Pare I do?)[]
The teachers at Kimetsu Academy meet up at a local bar, not too far from the school. Kanae is informed that there are myths about ghosts and ghouls haunting the academy. She becomes concerned about how the students will feel about this, so she decides to go to the school at 12:00 A.M that night to figure out what on earth is going on. Rengoku and Uzui tag along with her, while the other teachers stay behind for their own reasons.
Once it is time, the three show up, with Rengoku wearing a heavy backpack containing a big chunk of rock salt to use on the ghosts. All of a sudden, a happy, enthusiastic Tomioka dashes towards the rest, leaving Uzui baffled. The teachers enter the building. Uzui hears strange noises and happens to see one of the ghosts weeping across the hallway. Kanae is aware of it, too, but stays calm, while Rengoku is unable to see it. Baffled, Uzui asks Rengoku how he cannot see the monster when it is right in front of him. Kanae explains how Rengoku is unable to see the monster, and then she chants something and throws a rectangular card at the monster, making it vanish. Uzui is surprised. Tomioka seems pale and terrified.
Soon, the teachers went into the biology room in search for the ghost in 'The Haunted Pot in the Biology Room'. The ghoul emerges from the pot. Rengoku had his salt handy, but he still was unable to see the monster. Uzui shouts that the monster is behind Rengoku, so he chucks the rock salt directly behind him. But, it landed on the chalkboard and was stuck there. Kanae chanted the same thing again, finishing off the ghoul. As the teachers walked out, they found three students, Tanjiro Kamado, Inosuke Hashibira, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, who also happened to be in search for the ghouls. Agatsuma claimed he was doing this to get Valentine's chocolate from the girls after they hear what a heroic act he had done. Uzui looked around when he noticed Tomioka was gone. Somehow, an average Tomioka exited the nearby bathroom. Uzui was baffled once again, and he showed that by letting out a confused "What on earth!?" However, Kanae and Rengoku remarked how strange Uzui has been acting throughout the mission. He looked at his reflection through a window, when he realized how pale and tired he looked. He suddenly blacked out. He was asleep for three days, later waking up surrounded by his three girlfriends, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru.
And as for Rengoku's rock salt, it still remains stuck in the biology room chalkboard 'till this day.

Trivia[]
- "The Promise of Tomorrow" mistakenly translates "Upper Rank Two" as having injured and killed swordsmiths instead of Upper Rank 5.
