Demon Slayer Novelization: Tanjiro and Nezuko, Destiny's Begin Arc (
It covers chapters 1 to 28 of the manga, specifically when Tanjiro's group leaves Hisa's house.
Synopsis[]
As long as anyone can remember, there have been rumors of man-eating demons living in the woods. Even in the more enlightened Taisho era, the townspeople never go near there at night. Tanjiro Kamado, a kind boy who has been supporting his family as a coal seller since his father died, quickly learns that the local superstition is more than just rumors when he returns home one day to find his family slaughtered by demons. Only he and his sister Nezuko manage to survive, but she is transformed into a demon. Determined and resolute, he is recruited into the Demon Slayer Corps and his quest to help turn his sister human again and avenge his family's deaths begins.[2]
Differences[]
While the novel almost perfectly follows the plot of the manga, there are some differences:
- Kiriya and Kanata Ubuyashiki are explicitly called twin girls, instead of it being left ambiguous.
- Kagaya Ubuyashiki remarking that five participants survived Final Selection is excluded, giving the impression only four people survived. Zenitsu still points out that Inosuke was a fifth participant when they meet, however.
- Tanjiro remarks about meeting a female demon in Asasuka, likely referencing female Tamayo who had “confronted Muzan.”
