Hello, I hope this finds you well! The latest chapter on Manga PLUS had some attack names that were different from what's used on the Breath Style pages for the respective attacks, one example being Beast Breathing 6th Fang (going from Jagged Gnaw to Palisade Bite). I was wondering if it'd be alright to update the page to reflect that.
I also wanted to point out that some Breath pages use Style instead of Form for attack names and if those should be changed to be Form instead like the Manual of Style directs us to do. Since when I write chapter summaries I refer to the Breath Pages for accurate attack names (I use the scans as VIZ is not available in my location) but the MoS says one thing and the pages are written in a different way so it gets a tad confusing at times so I was wondering if you could weigh in on that.
I just double checked on the 6th Form and Jagged Gnaw seems to be from the scanlations so we can go ahead and update it to Palisade Bite (or let me know if you would like me to do it).
As for the second part, I checked the phrashing on ViZ and they use the term Form so if you see any pages that still contain Style, please change them. A majority of the Breath Styles pages still use the scanlated attack names so we still need to update them to the ViZ translation but for now go ahead and change Style to Form.
I see! Will do and I also wanted to ask for clarification on the 7th Fang for Beast Breathing since another editor said they read in a Volume that it was referred to as Style instead of Fang yet all the others are Fangs so that incongruency had been bugging me, would you know which it is and be able to make the necessary changes including Palisade Bite? Since I've gone back & forth with them a few times on editing that page and want to avoid getting into an edit war.
I went out of my way to check the Viz translation for Inosuke's Fang Styles found below. For some reason the second and fourth have the same translation so I don't know how the wiki wants to handle it.
So the information was given in the image below which can be found in Volume 17. 鳴柱 is the kanji that's used which roughly translates to Roaring Hashira whereas 雷柱 would translate to Thunder/Lightning Hashira etc. Technically it's not the official translation, but it is considered correct. When the ViZ translation comes out, and they use Thunder then we would just change it to Thunder but until then, Roaring is the most correct.
So it is indeed that. While it is 鳴り, if an official isn't being followed, I would like to suggest a change to Thunder. 雷 does mean lightning/thunder, but 鳴神 is an archaic way of it (I do realise that the 神 which makes the word what it is is missing here), and I think the series takes place in the past so it should fit and would also be accurate.
I understand that i'm going against the literal translation here (which would actually be "Ringing Pillar"), but I feel that as there no official to strictly follow, it wouldn't be a bad idea to use the one which fits better (I'd argue Thunder does than Roaring here), and was also the one used by the person translaing the chapters for a long time, who I assume is pretty respected in the commuinity.
Think we can use this on the Breath of the Sun page? Also, how should the wiki handle the Dance of the Fire God page? I personally believe it should stay as it is so the anime viewers won't be spoiled. I think Tanjiro's page should also keep the Dance of the Fire God name instead. Even if a spoiler tag is used, it would still make it very obvious what the wiki is trying to hide. I feel like it's such a big thing to not spoil for anime fans. Maybe lock the pages for admins only?
I been to other wiki like for example TG wiki I discuss none off topic in my wall its wasn t against rules. I never thought it was against rules to discuss things off topic at your own message wall. Is this a new rules at the wiki?
There's more information on the User Page Policy and Talk Page Policy. Generally TP (Talk Pages) are used only discuss editing of articles and such, whereas MW (Message Walls) allow for general communication. The problem for your MW thread was that it wasn't about Kimetsu no Yaiba at all, and only talked about another series, and mainly revolved around a personal conflict. Which is why after talking to the other Team members, we decided to close it.
Your MW hasn't been disabled and you aren't going to be disciplined or anything for this, so you can continue to create threads but try to make sure that they are related to KNY. I hope this doesn't discourage you from contributing to the wiki and being a member of the community.
Please contact anyone from the Team if you have any concerns.
Hello! I wanted to ask if it would be permissible for me to make a Discussions post about the leaks of the latest chapter. Not linking to them, just giving my thoughts and possibly adding an image or two from them? For this week's chapter I was hoping to include the colour spread.
Dropping in to say that unfortunately, according to the spoiler policy, we don't allow discussions on leaks before the official translation is released. However, you're free to discuss them on the affiliated Discord in the designated leaks channel, it's quite active.
Thank you for reaching out! First of all I want to say I really appreciate the fact that you asked first instead of just making the thread. I removed a few comments and saw some edits earlier that spoiled some parts for me already, so I had to go ahead and read the chapter. It does ruin the enjoyment so its best not to start any Discussions until after the chapter has posted.
However going off of what Rii.ul said, there is a manga leaks channel over on the Discord if you want to head over there, im sure there's multiple people who would engage with any thoughts you have.
hey just responding to your post on Tamayo. She states in chapter 127 that she didn’t turn the man human but gave him his consciousness back (broke Muzans curse) and now he can live from the influence on a small amount of blood. So while she did make the demon cure, its unknown if it worked as of yet since Nezuko and Muzan are both demon still and the Asakusa man is still demon and hasn’t been shown to be administered the cure yet, likewise in chapter 138, in a small panel she states that flesh seed is the demon technique of that same man, but it’s unspecified how exactly he was able to lend it to her, but she does state it’s not her technique. In that chapter, she got close using Yushiro’s blindfold and held Muzan down with the unnamed demons technique from Asakusa. The last time we actively see her using any demon technique of her own was in the Asakusa arc.
Thanks for providing some sources, unfortunately those chapters haven't been officially translated into English so there could be different variations online. I'm not saying that the points you are making are incorrect, there just isn't any way we can validate if its correct at the moment. Sorry about the late feedback.
