Appearance[]

The Serpent Demon has long black hair that reached past her shoulders, yellow eyes with thin slitted pupils similar to a snake, a wide fanged mouth stretching from ear to ear, and vein-like patterns around her eyes. Her long tongue was forked at the end and she had sharp nails on her hands. Her upper torso had three violet lines alongside the oblique of her chest. The lower half of her body was that of a traditional snake, with an elongated legless body covered in brown scales.

The Serpent Demon wore nothing but a gold necklace imbedded with various jewels and four larges pearls.

Personality[]

As with most demons, the Serpent Demon was extremely cruel and murderous towards humans.[1] Notably, she had a disturbing preference towards eating children, especially infants, and requested them regularly as her favorite meal. Her sadistic pleasure in her choice of prey was also reflected when she deemed Obanai as something worthy to satisfy her, ordering that he be allowed to grow up before she could eat him, even having his mouth sliced open to look like her.

The Serpent Demon was arguably smarter than the average demon would be as she developed a contractual relationship with humans, which in turn gave her a safe feeding ground to eat in, a steady food supply of her favorite type of meal and a place to hide from both sunlight and Demon Slayers for decades completely undetected. Nonetheless, she paid no heed to their mistake of letting Obanai escape and killed nearly all of her worshippers before pursuing Obanai.

History[]

At an unspecified point in the past, the Serpent Demon encountered the Iguro Clan. The two sides struck a deal; they would feed her with their offspring in exchange for riches she would acquire from her attacks. She was even placed at the head of the clan and was worshipped like an empress. At some point, Obanai was born and he had become the clan's first male in 370 years. Because of this and his unique heterochromia, the Serpent Demon decided she would save him for later, cultivating him for years before reaching a size that satisfied her. At times, she would even visit Obanai in his cell whilst hidden, frightening him as he tried to sleep.

Shinjuro saves Obanai from the Serpent Demon

The Serpent Demon is killed by Shinjuro Rengoku.

When Obanai reached the age of twelve, he was brought before the Serpent Demon who had ordered that he should be face cut across the mouth to resemble her own, with the blood he coughed being collected and served to her. Knowing he was in danger, Obanai secretly cut a means to escape in the wooden bars of his cell and fled. Angered that her chosen prey had escaped, the Serpent Demon killed nearly every member of the Iguro clan, apart from one cousin of Obanai, and pursued him. She quickly caught up to him as he ran but was killed by the timely arrival of the Flame Hashira Shinjuro Rengoku, saving Obanai's life.

Synopsis[]

Sunrise Countdown Arc[]

Obanai reminisces about the Serpent Demon when he sees Mitsuri Kanroji is too injured to fight Muzan Kibutsuji. Although he desires to confess his love to her, he believes his blood is impure as a result of his family's misdeeds and instead would rather die and meet her in another life where he can love her freely.

Abilities[]

Overall Abilities[]

Very little is known about the Serpent Demon's abilities. As she hasn't displayed any Blood Demon Arts, it is reasonable to assume that she is beneath the likes of higher demons possessing Blood Demon Arts, let alone the likes of the Twelve Kizuki.
