The Soryu Dojo (
History[]
History of the Soryu dojo.
The dojo and its surrounding land originally belonged to an old man. After he was saved from bandits by Keizo, who used a bare-fist martial arts fighting style, he decided to give Keizo ownership out of gratitude and awe at his abilities, and also because he didn't have an heir. Keizo moved in with his sickly daughter Koyuki, and possibly his wife, who drowned herself out of despair from nursing her, as she didn't believe she would recover.
Keizo was frequently harassed by a neighboring dojo that wanted the land for themselves, and because of this Keizo had trouble finding students, instead making a living through odd jobs. After hearing that a child was going to be killed after going on a bloody rampage, Keizo personally subdued him and took him in as a student, while also commanding him to be Koyuki's caretaker. The boy, Hakuji, reluctantly agreed and would frequently spend his time either nursing Koyuki or training with Keizo.[1]
There was an incident with the rivaling dojo; the young heir who had a crush on Koyuki pressured her to go outside despite her illness, causing her to violently cough. The panicked and fled, and Koyuki was saved by Hakuji, who was infuriated. The result was a feud between the two dojos; Keizo was on standby while Hakuji defeated nine students, forbidding further interaction between Koyuki and the dojo. After Hakuji defeated the heir who attempted to attack with a real sword, the owner of the rival dojo accepted defeat and stopped bothering the Soryu dojo.[2]
Eventually, when Hakuji turned eighteen, and Koyuki, in much better health, turned sixteen, Keizo offered to pass the dojo on to Hakuji, which he humbly accepted, as well as getting engaged to Koyuki. However, the envious rival heir heard of this and decided to poison the Soryu dojo's well, encouraged by the other students, and because his own father was dead by then. Hakuji had left to visit his late father's grave, but Keizo and Koyuki drank poisoned water and died.
After finding out about the murder of his family in the Soryu dojo, a furious Hakuji slaughtered all sixty-seven students of the rival dojo in vengeance, including the heir, before being transformed into the demon Akaza by Muzan Kibutsuji later that night. It's unknown what happened to the Soryu dojo afterward, but given the absence of all its inhabitants, it either fell into disrepair or another's ownership.[3]
