The Tokito House (ときと () Tokito ya?) is a traditional Japanese brothel located in the Entertainment District of Tokyo, Japan.

History[]

It is not known when the Tokito House was established in the Entertainment District. However, when Tengen Uzui was investigating the report of a demon within the district, he sends his wife, Suma, to infiltrate the Tokito House to try and gather information.[1]

After he loses contact with his wife, Tengen travels to the Entertainment District with the Demon Slayers to try to infiltrate a second time. Tengen presents the Demon Slayers, crudely dressed in makeup, to the Tokito house, hoping one of them will be taken in and begin the mission. Though the owners are shocked at their appearance, the house's madam happily agrees to take one in, taken aback by Tengen's handsomeness. Tanjiro (disguised as Sumiko) is taken. At first, the madam is furious that Tengen tricked him after finding out Tanjiro has a scar on his head and yells how she's going to get customers with him. But she gets her heart won over because Tanjiro is good at doing various chores.

As Tanjiro lifts a set of gifts to Koinatsu, he overhears some girls talking about Suma doing 'Ashinuke': the act of a prostitute leaving her home without paying her debts over love. Koinatsu interrupts their chat, telling them to stop spreading rumors. Tanjiro asks about Suma's whereabouts to Koinatsu. Koinatsu is suspicious of Tanjiro's intention and asks him whats his connection with Suma is. Realizing this, Tanjiro attempts to lie and claim that Suma is his older sister and enters the district looking for her. Tanjiro assures them that Suma wouldn't have left suddenly. Koinatsu confirms it and comments that Suma was seemingly a grounded girl without any hint of being in love with a man.

That evening Tanjiro changes back into his uniform, gives Koinatsu his payment for the master during his time spent in the house, and makes a promise to her to save the missing people before leaving the Tokito to face the demons. But after Tanjiro leaves, Daki kidnaps Koinatsu and plans to devour her. As Tanjiro runs to the Ogimoto House, he pauses and detects the scent of a demon nearby. Tanjiro returns to warn Koinatsu only to find Daki trapping Koinatsu in her obi. Tanjiro fights Daki and gets thrown out of the house by her. Daki also follows him to continue the fight and leaves the house as well. It is unknown if the Tokito House was still standing at the end of the major battles.

Trivia[]

  • Despite having the same last name as Muichiro Tokito, it is improbable that there is a relation, not only due to the different kanji but also because Muichiro's family were poor lumbermen.
