Synopsis[]

In Taisho-era Japan, kindhearted Tanjiro Kamado makes a living selling charcoal. But his peaceful life is shattered when a demon slaughters his entire family. His little sister Nezuko is the only survivor, but she has been transformed into a demon herself! Tanjiro sets out on a dangerous journey to find a way to return his sister to normal and destroy the demon who ruined his life.

After centuries of preparation and training, the Demon Slayer Corps has come face-to-face with their nemesis, Muzan Kibutsuji. It is a desperate battle and several Demon Slayers have already been killed. Tanjiro himself has engaged Muzan, and, despite giving it everything he has, is taken out of the fight! Although severely injured and near death, he sees a vision of his ancestor that may hold the key to finally destroying Muzan! Can Tanjiro recover enough strength to fight Muzan to the finish?

Author's Comment[]

Hi everyone! I'm Gotouge and this is volume 22! Thank you to everyone involved! Recently, I've been thinking about ways to address an extraterrestrial lifeform furtively invading the earth. I was thinking that if aliens replaced my family and friends, I might be able to tell by establishing a made-up code word...but if the aliens have a device or ability that allows them to read minds, the what could I do?! Solving one problem just leads to another!! The Earth Defence Corps never sleeps! ★ If you watch too many science fiction films, you start thinking like this, so be careful! When I ran out of midmorning snacks, my assistant gave me some!

Context in the Images[]

Taisho Secrets[]

  • Obanai is bad with women, due to his upbringing caused him to develop hatred and fear towards them. Interacting with female Demon Slayers did not help, as their attempts to mask their past traumas made him uncomfortable. When Mitsuri suddenly talked to him, he was startled. But her brightness, honesty, and kindness were too dazzling for him. For the first and only time in his life, he found a woman beautiful. Their first meeting aside, Mitsuri was very talkative, so he managed to figure out her family, her cat's name and features, her favorite foods, and the power of cat lovers very quickly. The image shows Mitsuri passionately talks about how cute her four cats are and Obanai manages to learn about cats despite never having seen one because it was their first meeting.
  • During the joint development of the drug, Tamayo worked hard until the very last moment despite the lack of time and managed to turn the cat, Chachamaru, into a demon. Although she felt sorry for Chachamaru because he couldn't choose to become a demon of his own will, she did it because she wanted Yushiro not to be lonely and alone. Handsome cat (Chachamaru) says "I don't mind if it's a request from the woman I love.".

Sengoku Secrets[]

  • The Kamado family house is actually the house where Yoriichi and Uta used to live. Sumiyoshi and Suyako came into the deserted shack and made it their home. After Yoriichi is banished from the Demon Slayer Corps, he goes back to the house where he lived with Uta. He found the Kamado family being attacked by demons and rescued them. After that, he called a midwife for Suyako, who had gone into labor and returned incredibly quickly. The next day, Sumire, Sumiyoshi and Suyako's daughter, was born safely. Yoriichi was relieved that he was able to do for the Kamado family to make up for what he could not do for his wife and child. The image shows Suyako points at the abandoned shack and says "Sumi-san!! Sumi-san!!", "Hey, look, there's a house! It looks like we could totally live there!", and "Right!" to Sumiyoshi.
  • The reason why Sumiyoshi's house looks so good is because people paid him back for his help. When he refused to accept any money they sent to pay him back, he said "he hasn't done much", they sent many carpenters to come over and slowly made the house more beautiful. Sumiyoshi and Suyako rescued a mother and son who were lost in the mountain. And they turned out to be the wife and eldest son of a daimyo. Their lives were threatened while the daimyo was away because of a successorship issue. But even though they escaped, they nearly died in the mountains. The image shows Suyako's thrilled about the repairs. So she jumps making the sound "Hop hop hop" and says "We're... like... the... straw... mil... lion... aire!", while Sumiyoshi says "This is a bit different from the straw millionaire story..." .

Muzan's Power and Reason for Creating Demons[]

Muzan's Power[]

  • 9 thin whips on his back (4 meters long). Fast, thin and their trajectory is difficult to read.
  • Thin whips on thighs, 4 on each side, totaling 8 (7 meters long). Faster than the whips on his back. Unlike the whips on his back, they retract and extend from the body. They attacks from blind spots.
  • Both arms can stretch and shrink remarkably (about 90 cm to 10 m). Since they don't have a fixed shape or length, making it difficult to predict attacks. It is also difficult to close the distance. The breath from the numerous irregular mouths draws in nearby objects and gouges out a wide area. The size of the breath also changes from moment to moment.

Muzan's Reason for Creating Demons[]

  • To find a human with the ability that can overcome the sun.
  • To create Upper Rank demons. Upper Rank demons are not easy to create, especially since if there is a large amount of Muzan's blood, in most cases the cells will break down and the person will die. When Upper Rank demons try to recruit humans, they give them their own blood, but Upper Rank blood itself does not have the power to increase the number of demons. If they convey their desire to increase the number of demons to Muzan, and Muzan agrees, the blood will change into one that will turn them into demons. Only Upper Rank demons are allowed to recruit.

Sketches[]

  • Obanai's scabbard is made of leather. Open-type scabbard. Pull it out like this (*Unsheathe vertically). It's like wrapping it up. It is lightly held in place by weak magnets. He can't unsheathe his sword due to its wavy shape (*Unsheathe horizontally). Can't unsheathe like this. It's super impossible. Made by Tecchin's son, Gantetsu. The image shows Obanai and Kaburamaru with title below says "Igucchi".
  • The meanings of the flowers that Sumire gave Yoriichi (with Sumire says "Yep! I gave 'em to him!!"):
    • White periwinkle: Lifelong friendship
    • Pale pink periwinkle: Fond memories
  • There are differences between being capable, competent, and proficient. Being "capable" means you have to practice repeatedly over and over to become able to do a certain technique. Being "competent" means you need to learn how to do it reliably in any position and under any circumstances. Furthermore, Being "proficient" means you mastered the technique you used and refined it so that you can always use it with the maximum power, faster and stronger than anyone else.
    • Capable → (Impressive) → Competent → (Mind-blowing) → Proficient
    • Maybe Tanjiro's around here? (Tanjiro is at competent which is impressive.) With Tanjiro says "I'll do my best.".
